The Invitrogen E-Gel Imager Gel Documentation System (from Life Technologies, now part of Thermo Fisher Scientific) is a compact, personal imaging system designed for capturing, documenting, and analyzing agarose gels and E-Gel cassettes. It excels in visualizing DNA/RNA samples stained with fluorescent dyes like SYBR Safe or ethidium bromide, supporting real-time imaging during electrophoresis runs. The system is particularly suited for low-throughput labs, offering ease of use without the need for darkroom setups. Includes the E-Gel Imager Camera Hood (for image capture) and the E-Gel Imager Blue Light Base (for safe, non-UV excitation of blue-light-compatible stains), making it ideal for safer DNA visualization to minimize sample damage. The Blue Light Base enhances safety by avoiding UV exposure, which can nick DNA, making it preferable for cloning workflows.
